The Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council’s Defective Blocks Committee is calling on the government to intervene with the banks and lending institutions in support of older people who are finding it impossible to navigate the current remediation scheme.
Cllr Gerry McMonagle was speaking after the committee today heard a submission from a group calling themselves the ‘Silver Circle’, many of whom are finding it impossible to access bridging loans and other financial assistance they need if they are to have work done on their homes.
Cllr McMonagle says while this issue has been known for some time, to hear the stories of those affected was a stark reminder of how serious and pressing their situation is…….
