Bunbeg Coast Guard have confirmed they were called to assist Gardaí with a search operation near the R251 in Falcarragh.
Their crews completed an extensive search, working alongside colleagues from other emergency services.
They were subsequently stood down.
It’s understood the search was related to a report from a couple that they had knocked down a child on the road, but the child was never located.
