Harrington named as McGinley’s vice captain

Padraig Harrington has been recruited as one of Paul McGinley’s Ryder Cup vice captains.

The three-time Major winner has been named as one of three assistants who will join McGinley’s Europe team when they take on the USA at Gleneagles later this month.

Harrington is joined by the Spanish pair of Miguel Angel Jimenez  and Jose Maria Olazabal as the newly-appointed vice-captains.

The trio will join Des Smyth and Scotland’s Sam Torrance, who were recruited by McGinley earlier this year.
