FAI support Keane following reports of hotel altercation

As the countdown continues to tomorrow evening’s crucial qualifier against Scotland in Glasgow, the Republic of Ireland team is making front page news this morning – and in particular, the assistant manager, Roy Keane.
Keane was involved in an altercation with a fan in the Ireland team hotel last evening after which the man received medical attention.
The man was taken to hospital following the incident at the Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links, where the Ireland football team are staying ahead of their match against Scotland.
It’s reported that the man had a copy of Keane’s new book and asked Keane to sign it for him. However, when Keane refused – the man – who is believed to have written about Roy Keane in the past – began tearing pages out of the book in the reception area of the hotel.
An altercation followed and the man fell to the ground and an ambulance called.
Gardai were called after the alleged altercation – although it’s not thought any punches were thrown and the FAI said last night that it was Keane himself who called the gardai.
The FAI also say Keane has their full support in the matter.
