Strabane man continues to be held after woman stabbed in Co Cavan

A man remains in Garda custody in Co Cavan this morning, in connection with the stabbing of a woman on Christmas Eve.
The man who’s in his late 50s, was arrested on Wednesday, after a woman in her 40s was found with serious stab wounds to her upper body, at a house in Kilnaleck.
The woman was taken to Cavan General Hospital where she’s thought to be in a serious but stable condition.
The man – who’s believed to be well known Republican Pearse McCauley from Strabane, served a sentence for a serious crime committed in the mid 1990’s.
He received hospital treatment for his injuries last night, but is back in Cavan Garda Station for questioning.
