Met Eireann has issued a Status Red wind warning for exposed coastal and mountain areas of Co Donegal tonight.
Winds will reach speeds of up to 150 km/h tonight.
Meanwhile counties Donegal, Derry and Tyrone can expect rainfall of between 25 and 35mm, with a yellow warning also in place for these areas.
While southern counties will bare the brunt of high winds this evening, the Northwest will be hit by hurricane like winds towards midnight and tomorrow morning.
