It’s been confirmed by Gardai that there is no evidence that yachts were turned away from Greencastle last month.
It was reported that yachts, from France, Sweden and Buncrana, were turned away from the harbour by people claiming to protect the rights of fishermen.
The apparent incident had sparked outrage among a cross section of politicians as well as Greencastle fishermen.
But in a letter he received from Garda Supt Kevin English, Donegal North-East Deputy Padraig MacLochlain confirmed that Gardai or the Harbormaster at Greencastle received any complaints about the incident.
Deputy MacLochlain has now demanded an apology from those who publicly sought to slur the name of inshore fishermen based in Greencastle…..
