Letterkenny Town Council has passed a unanimous vote of no confidence in Environment Minister Phil Hogan. Fine Gael Cllr Jimmy Kavanagh was not present at the time.
Members hit out at the minister after it emerged that no correspondence has been received from Mr Hogan or his department since the announcement last month that town councils are to be abolished. Cllr Ciaran Brogan said the council has staff who don’t are asking questions about their future, but there are no answers for them.
The issue was also raised by Cllr Gerry Mc Monagle. He says that after confirming the abolition, the fact that neither the minister nor the department has made contact suggests they don’t know what they are doing, and are making it up as they go along……………….
