There are fears that a 25 million euro investment for Burtonport could be lost if cash strapped Donegal County Council could not come up with 130 thousand euro.
That money would be used to secure an foreshore licence which local Councillor David Alcorn says would see plans for a major hotel, leisure and housing development in Burtonport.
He has appealed to the council to ensure the money is set aside in its capital budget, having raised the issue this week he says he is confident:
