Senator Pearse Doherty says he’s been told by Health Minister Mary Harney that the outcome of a review into community hospitals should now be known by September.
Once that has been completed, the future of Lifford Community Hospital and The Rock in Ballyshannon should become clear, and an announcement about their future will be made.
Senator Doherty says while fears remains about the future of the hospitals, his hope is that the delay in completing the review is a sign that the massive show of support for the hospitals has had an impact.
