No joy for Donegal councillors at NRA meeting

The Deputy Mayor of Donegal says the council will have top make a direct case to the Transport Minister for funding to complete a number of important road projects in the county.
Cllr Padraig Mac Lochlainn, who also chairs the council’s Strategic Transport Committee says a meeting today between a council deputation and the National Roads Authority was a “sobering” experience, during which members were told there is no money in the pot.
Cllr Mac Lochlainn says there is currently a government plan to support the new A5 between Aughnacloy and Derry, but there are no provisions to improve the roads linking Letterkenny and elsewhere in Donegal to that new road.
He says there was nothing said in today’s discussion to give him hope for the immediate future………..
