Deenihan confirms Dinny Mc Ginley will be a Junior Minister

Donegal South West Deputy Dinny Mc Ginley is playing down speculation that he will be named a Junior Minister today, but it seems an appointment is in the offing after Arts, heritage and Gaeltacht Minister Jimmy Deenihan let slip that Deputy Mc Ginley will be appointed to his department.
Minister Deenihan – who’s not a fluent Irish speaker – was questioned by reporters as he entered a cabinet meeting at Government Buildings said he was be aided in the department by Deputy McGinley…….

Speaking afterwards to Highland Radio, Deputy Mc Ginley said speculation is very premature, and while an appointment would be an honour for himself and for Donegal South West, he is taking nothing for granted………..

However, speaking on Radio Kerry, Minister Deenihan was asked again about his lack of fluency in Irish. He pledged to improve his own grasp of the language, and again said he would have Dinny Mc Ginley to handle the Gaeltacht element of the brief.
