Two Letterkenny clubs take part in “EU Night Without Accident” initative

Young people heading out to party tonight are being encouraged to appoint a designated driver to take them home.
It’s part of “EU Night Without Accident”, a scheme run by young people aimed at promoting responsible driving.
Letterkenny is one of seven areas where the scheme is being rolled out tonight, with volunteers in place at Sister Sara’s and Voodoo.
The volunteers will encourage other young people to appoint a designated driver from among their friends. The drivers will be given a wrist band showing their intention to stay alcohol free, and when they leave the night club they are breathalysed by volunteers.
The initiative has run for a number of years now, and Brian Farrell of the Road Safety Authority says it continues to grow………
