The 48 year old man killed in a tree felling accident near Termon yesterday has been named as Danny Gallagher of Doon, Termon, a married father of five.
48 year old Mr Gallagher was cutting a tree at his brother’s home at Doon Well at around 1 o’clock yesterday when the tragedy occured. Mr Gallagher was cutting the tree while his brother was driving a tractor from which a rope had been tied to the tree to direct its fall.
However, as the 25 feet tall palm tree fell, it changed direction, striking Mr Gallagher, a father of five who worked for the ESB.
His body was brought to Letterkenny General Hospital where a Post Mortem examination is taking place.
Funeral arrangements have yet to be confirmed, but it’s expected that Mr Gallagher’s body will be brought home tomorrow.
