1991 RUC probe into Buchanan and Howell deaths was flawed – Ombudsman

A botched police investigation made it possible for two people to get away with a double murder for 20 years – by pretending it was suicide.
Trevor Buchanan and Lesley Howell were found dead in a car in Castlerock, Co Derry in 1991.
Their partners Hazel Stewart and Colin Howell killed them – with officers only establishing what happened when Howell confessed.
