GAA – Club Championship Deferred After McGuinness Plea

This weekend’s first round first leg games in the Donegal Senior Club Championship have been put back a month following a request from county manager Jim Mc Guinness.
McGuinness outlined to the Competitions Control Committee at the monthly meeting in Ballybofey on Monday night that five of his key players were carrying hamstring injuries after the weekends Ulster semi final and club matches.
Martin O’Reilly is already in danger of missing the provincial final on July 22nd  with Down due to a hamstring tear picked up playing for MacCumhaills in a league game on Sunday.
Neil Mc Gee who was forced out of the Tyrone game just three minutes in is another concern along with captain Michael Murphy, Paddy Mc Grath and Ryan Bradley who also tweaked their hamstrings in Clones.
After considerable time in deliberating the issue, the CCC made the decision to move the Senior and Intermediate Championship games from this weekend to 11th/12th August.
