Senior Orange official tells Seanad of concern over protestant schools

A senior Orange Order official has told the Seanad that protestants in the Republic of Ireland are very concerned about the future of protestant schools, particularly in the border counties.
Senior Orange Officials from Donegal were in the public gallery today for the first address to the Oireachtas by the Orange Order.
IN the first ever address of its kind, Drew Nelson, the Grand Secretary of the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland, told the Seanad that protestants have in the past, and recently, been subjected to sectarianism which was at odds with the ideals of the 1916 proclamation.
However, he said, there have been recent developments which are helping to normalise relationships…….
