Independent stations want cut of RTE’s license fee

The Independent Broadcasters of Ireland says RTE has an unfair funding advantage.
The IBI says the 200 million euro generated by the licence fee goes exclusively to RTE – even though commercial radio also provides public service broadcasting content.
The organisation – which represents 34 independent stations around the country, including Highland Radio – says at least 5 million euro of the State broadcaster’s funding should go to its members.
The IBI Chairman – Scott Williams of Q102 in Dublin – wants the Government to overhaul the system:
