Questions raised about five councillors attending Wexford conference

Five councillors from Donegal travelled to Wexford for a conference on local government budgets, even though an almost identically titled seminar was taking place in Letterkenny the very same weekend.
The Irish Independent reports today that one Wexford councillor made the trip in the opposite direction.
According to the pasper, on the weekend of November 18th to 20th 2011, there was a seminar in Bunclody County Wexford entitled “Training Seminar for Councillors – The Local Government Budget 2012”, which five Donegal councillors attended.
On the same weekend, there was a seminar in the Silver Tassie hotel outside Letterkenny under the banner of “Local Governance Training Seminar – Local Authority Budgets 2012”.
The paper says Donegal County Council paid a total of 3,031 euro for the Wexford conference, which was attended by Cllrs Mickey Doherty, Frank Mc Brearty, Michael Mc Bride, Barry O’Neill and John Ryan.
Cllr Mc Brearty is quoted as saying that the main speaker at the Wexford event was a wealth of knowledge, and this was the best conference he was ever at.
