Cutliffe plan to run in local elections may create problems for Labour

It’s emerged that the ongoing discussion over the employment of Polling Clerks in Donegal may have ramifications for Labour in Letterkenny.
Peter Cutliffe, the Chairperson of the party’s Letterkenny branch has announced he will contest the next local election following the emergence of anecdotal evidence that a number of people working in the UK took time off to come to Donegal and work as polling clerks in last weekend’s referendum.
Mr Cutliffe, who also sits on the VEC in Donegal, had been campaigning to have positions given to people on the live register in the county. He says the system is totally wrong and he’ll be running in the next election, either as a Labour candidate or as an independent.
In the meantime, he says he’ll be writing to Minister Phil Hogan and asking Senator Jimmy Harte to raise the issue in the Seanad……….
