Government funding boost for Donegal festivals

The government has allocated €50,000 to local festivals in Donegal for 2013.
The money comes through the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport and will help fund 11 festivals across the country will amounts ranging from 4,500 euro to 7,000.
The Guth Gafa receives the highest level of funding at 7,000 euro – there are 5,000 euro allocations for The Ballyshannon Int Folk Festival 2013, Taste of Donegal Food Festival, North West Garden Show – White House and  the Gallagher Clan – 2nd global gathering.
Ballyshannon 400 Events receives 4,500 euro – while Oideas Gael Cultural Festival, Mary of Dungloe Reunion 2013 and Cup an Tae + Ardara Gathering each receive 3,000 euro.
2,500 euro has been allocated to the Letterkenny Live Festival.
Welcoming the funding Gaeltacht Minister Dinny McGinley said regional festivals are a central element of the cultural calendar for many communities:
