Council says diaspora website is a huge success

Donegal County Council says the response to the Donegal Diaspora website launched last week has been very positive, with hits from as far away as Vietnam and Nepal.
The council’s Director of Community Services says there have been severasl thousand hits on the website, while a large number of comments on the linked Facebook page show the extent to which a resource like this was needed.
Michael Heaney says the website recorded over three and a half thousand visits within a short period of its launch last week and the associated Facebook page has a total of over 500 likes, reaching 135,000 people worldwide.
The US and the UK record the highest number of visitors, nearly two thousand between them. But the website has also been accessed from Russia, Vietnam, Jamaica, and Nepal, to name nut a few.
He says all of these countries and many, many more have someone living there who is interested in, or has a connection to Donegal. Now they can access a site that lets them know what is happening in the county, be it creative or business orientated; whether they are from Inishowen or Killybegs.diaspora
