MEP says TikTok’s refusal to appear before Oireachtas Committee is ‘unacceptable’

TikTok is facing criticism after declining an invitation to appear before an Oireachtas committee over dangerous driving content on the platform.

Fianna Fáil MEP Barry Andrews says the refusal is unacceptable, claiming TikTok is being used to fuel joyriding and reckless driving.

He says the company should explain its policies to the committee, and he’s warned repeated breaches of EU law could ultimately lead to temporary suspension in Europe.
