Epic Solutions to represent Donegal at Irish Youth Music finals

The Irish Youth Music Awards Donegal Heat for 2013 took place this year in the Green Room in Letterkenny.
Young bands and artists from across the county competed to have the chance to represent the county at the Irish Youth Music Awards National Final in Liberty Hall in Dublin on April 27th.

The Irish Youth Music Awards is unique in that the regional final works off a principle where all the competing bands have one vote and they have to select who they think will represent the county best at the national final.
After a series of fantastic performances in this the 6th year of the Irish Youth Music Awards, Kai Ferry, Cillian Boyle, Ultan O’Donnell and Stephen Cannon know as: “Epic Solution” were selected to represent Donegal at the National Final. They will perform their own original track plus an original written by Joel Harkin which won best song at the Donegal Heat. Donegal have a great history at the IYMAS claiming the Paul Clancy Song writing award in 2011, having previously won the overall award in 2008.
This year we have big hopes for the Lads from Falcarragh with the ability that they have suggesting they can easily challenge for honours in Dublin.    However, now is when the work really begins, as fellow bands are asked to work together to support the Epic Solution. If the Donegal act is successful in the national final all the local acts get to be part of a professionally recorded album in Dublin.
At the national final there is also the added bonus of all the bands learning a little bit more about the music industry and meeting representatives from the Irish music industry, and they are judged on all aspect of the Donegal team’s project, such as putting on preparation gigs, photography, styling and fundraising efforts to help bring the band and supporters to the national final.
