Donegal Woodland Owners seek independent review of forestry policy

The Donegal Woodland Owners Association is calling for an independent review of the government’s forestry policy, particularly in respect of the sale of Coillte lands and harvesting rights.
Spokesperson John Jackson says their information is that deals to sell off substantial harvesting rights could be concluded as early as this week, and if that happens, then major opportunities will be squandered and jobs will be lost.
Mr Jackson says with substantial growth in the wood energy sector at present, it makes no sense to sell offr the harvesting rights now:
