Breaking: Further Gorse fires – Gweedore and Doochary affected

Fire crews from Gweedore and Dungloe have spent the past few hours battling a gorse fire on a hill in Gweedore.
The fire broke out near a quarry at the bottom of the hill of the Gweedore wind farm. The farm has eight wind turbines and also several communications masts.
Fire officers are trying the bring the blaze – that has spread over a wide area – under control but there is no immediate danger to any property or the wind farm.
A smaller fire broke out in Loughanure village this evening but was quickly brought under control.
Fire crews from Glenties are also attending a gorse fire in the Doochary area.
