Man due in court in Derry on knife charges

A man in his 30s will appear before Derry Magistrates Court later today charged with Possessing an Offensive Weapon in a Public Place and two counts of Common Assault.
The charges relate to an incident in the city centre on April 3rd.
Police in Derry arrested a man who was allegedly seen wielding a knife in the centre of Derry on Wednesday of this week.
Police confirmed that the man was seen at around 4:45pm by a man and his young son. Officers from the local Neighbourhood Team quickly located and arrested a man who was taken into custody and question.
The 35 year-old will appear before Derry Magistrates Court later this morning – he will face charges of Possessing an Offensive Weapon in a Public Place and two counts of Common Assault.
