Letterkenny Town Council has published proposals to tackle a dangerous bend at Black’s Bridge in the Glencar area of Letterkenny.
A safety audit was commissioned following a number of collisions in the area, with Town Engineer John Mc Carron saying that speeds in both directions were too high.
The audit recommends that the nearby Dog Pound junction be added to the locations of speed enforcement vans, and the construction of a temporary chicane for traffic heading in to town. That could be made permanent if it is found to be effective.
A flat top ramp, rumble strips and new traffic islands are also recommended as part of a package of measures which the council estimates it will cost in the region of €25,000 to implement.
