Fianna Fail Leader pays tribute to the late Harry Blaney

Harry BlaneyThe Fianna Fáil Leader Micheál Martin has extended his deepest sympathies to the family of former Donegal TD Harry Blaney, who has died at the age of 85.
“It is with great sadness that I learned today of the death of Harry Blaney, a stalwart of Donegal politics,” Deputy Martin said.
“I had the pleasure working with Harry when he was elected to the Dáil in 1997. He was a very decent, gentle and courteous man who always had good time for everyone.  He had firm views on most issues and always had the best interests of Donegal and its people at heart.
“Although he spent just one term as a TD, Harry made a strong impact in the Dáil.  One of his proudest achievements was delivering a new bridge linking Rosguill and Fanad peninsulas in Donegal North East. The impressive structure, known as the Harry Blaney Bridge, will be his standing legacy in Donegal.
“I want to extend my deepest sympathies to Harry’s wife Margaret, daughters Noreen, Catherine, Breideen, Patricia and Noelle and his sons Liam and Niall.  He will be sadly missed.  Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.”
