English out of European Team event

Letterkenny’s Mark English (U.C.D. A.C.) has  had to withdraw from the Irish Team for the European Team Championships 1^st League this weekend.
The World Junior 800m finalist was due to represent Ireland in the 800m event, however he has made the difficult decision along with the AAI medical team to withdraw due to a viral infection.
Mark will be replaced in the team by Anthony Leighio (Tallaght A.C.) who is coached by Eamonn Coghlan.
Team Manager, Patsy McGonagle has said that “while the withdrawal of Mark is disappointing, having an athlete of the calibre of Anthony, who is ranked 2^nd behind Mark English this season, is very positive for the team.”
