HSE may not meet new mental health staff recruitment targets

The HSE may be forced to cancel plans to hire 477 new mental health staff – because of overspending in the health sector.
The Government had announced that 35 million euro would be set aside to recruit in areas such as community services and suicide prevention.
But that’s now in doubt after the Irish Times published draft HSE spending plans – which say that recruitment is dependent on savings.
However, the figures show the Health Service is currently running a deficit of over 25 million euro.
