Revenue say LPT compliance in Donegal is 84%, the lowest in the country

The Revenue Commissioners say 89% of eligible homeowners have already paid their property tax, with 175 million euro already collected, over 4 million of it in Donegal.
As was the case with the Household Charge, Donegal has the lowest compliance rate in the country.
Under the self assessment model implemented by Revenue, just over 5 million euro of Local Property Tax due has been declared in Donegal, of which just over 4.2 million euro has already been paid.
That’s an estimated compliance rate of 84%, the lowest in the country, just behind Dublin and Louth, where the compliance rate is 85%.
The national compliance rate is 89%.
Meanwhile, Revenue is warning that the LPT compliance programme has started, and they have begun   writing to property owners who are in employment or have an occupational pension, and have not met their LPT obligations. They have 7 days from the date of the letter to file their returns on-line to prevent Revenue issuing instructions to their employer to deduct the LPT estimate from their wages or occupational pension.
Self–employed property owners who have not complied with their LPT obligations will not qualify for a tax clearance cert.
