Overnight snow and freezing temperatures leave roads in dangerous state

.Motorists are being advised to exercise extreme caution on the roads this morning after overnight snow and dipping temperatures left a number of routes in a dangerous state.
A number of minor accidents and vehicles becoming stuck have been reported.
Emergency services are currently attending a collision on the back of Errigal Road.
It is expected that conditions will improve as temperatures rise through out the morning.
Met Eireann has released the following forecast:
Cold with good spells of sunshine today and with showers, some heavy, becoming isolated this morning. Cloud and outbreaks of rain and drizzle will spread from the west later this afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 5 to 7 degrees. Breezy in coastal parts this morning and again later.
 
Cloudy tonight with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Becoming windy overnight with southwest to west winds increasing fresh to strong and gusty and veering northwesterly later in the night. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 4 degrees.
 
The rain will clear southwards tomorrow morning, and will be followed by sunny spells and just a few well scattered showers. Windy and cold; with highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees.
