Donegal Deputy questions Justice Minister’s control of Gardai resources

gardaiSinn Fein’s Justice Spokesperson says the fact that Gardaí will need an extra budget in order to stay running for the rest of the year proves that Justice Minister Alan Shatter is not in control of his brief.
TDs will be asked to approve an extra 50 million euro in funding, after the Department of Justice said it had spent more than expected at the start of the year.
It says it can keep the extra spend down to 32 million euro, and is blaming the overspend on the cost of policing events like the G8 summit.
Donegal Deputy Padraig Mac Lochlainn says however that this gives the lie to Minister Shatter’s claims that he is providing adequate resources to gardai:
