Detectives at Strand Road are appealing for witnesses following an incident in the Creggan area on Saturday 23 November.
At approximately 8 pm the driver of a fast food delivery van was approached by two men with scarves over their faces whilst making a delivery to a house in the High Park area. They intimated that they wanted him to deliver a package to Strand Road Police Station.
At this point the driver fled on foot and left his van in the area.
The van was subsequently taken away from the area by police for forensic examination.
The incident is similar to another on Thursday last. A masked man boarded a bus at around 6pm in the Ballymagroarty area and ordered the driver to take a bomb to Strand Road PSNI station.
The bus was then abandoned by the driver on Northland Road.
Over 40 families in the Foyle Springs area were evacuated from their homes as a result, and were only allowed to return early the next morning.
