The North’s Regional Development Minister is being urged to provide more support for rural transport services in West Tyrone and Derry.
The call has come from West Tyrone MLA Joe Byrne, who says there have been very welcome advances made in recent years, but the sector must be properly funded.
He says initiatives such as EASILINK Community Transport are hugely important for communities which are not catered for by Translink scheduled services.
However, while Translink gets over £200 million of public subsidy each year, the rural community transport services only get over £6 million, and that, he argues, is an imbalance which must be addressed……….
