Police in Foyle have issued an appeal for witnesses after a police car crashed in the Creggan area yesterday morning.
They say the car was responding to an emergency domestic incident at around 3 o’clock yesterday morning when the collision happened at an area known locally as the Bywash on the Creggan Road.
According to eyewitnesses quoted in today’s Derry News, the vehicle struck a traffic island and then crashed into a nearby wall at Osbourne Street, before flipping over and coming to a stop yards from a house.
Three officers were treated in hospital for their injuries and were released later that morning. Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them, and have thanked local residents who left their homes to offer assistance to the three officers involved.
