A 54-year-old Derry man has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced next month after he admitted sexually abusing his cousin beginning when she was aged six.
Frankie McFadden of Moyola Drive in Derry appeared at the local Crown Court where he faced a total of 12 charges that occurred between 1975 and 1979.
McFadden also faced charges of assault against the victim in the mid 1980’s including a threat to kill charge.
A prosecuting barrister outlined some of the details of the offences which began when the injured party was aged six and continued until she was aged 10.
The court heard that McFadden told his victim that ‘this is our wee secret’.
When the victim said she was going to tell on him McFadden told her she was ‘dirty’ and no one would believe her and he told her if she told it would ‘kill her mother’ and he would kill her.
The barrister said that the woman recalled being raped and said she never felt pain like it.
Following the death of the woman’s father she told her mother what had happened.
When interviewed by police McFadden made partial admissions and said that the incidents occurred when he was babysitting the child who he had a ‘notion’ of.
McFadden was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on January 7.
