A Letterkenny Town Councillor says the impact of the abolition of town councils will only become apparent when budgets for 2015 are being finalised in 12 months time.
Cllr Dessie Larkin is urgining people to closely examine the 2014 budget which was passed by the Town Council last week, and then compare the service provision in that document to what is included next year.
From May’s local elections, Donegal County Council will be expanded, and town councils will be replaced with Municipal Districts, which will not have finance raising powers, with the budget set at county level.
Cllr Larkin fears that Letterkenny will lose out under that arrangement……….
