The two woman who died in a house fire in Letterkenny on Friday morning have been named as 28-year-old Jody Brogan and her 27-year-old sister Angeline.
Investigations are continuing this morning into the cause of the blaze at Ceanann View, Mountain Top.
Gardai have sealed off the house for a technical examination, although the cause of the fire is not believed to be suspicious.
Its believed the fire began in the front living room of the house and spread to the bedroom upstairs where the girls were.
One young woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her sister was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital in a critical condition, but passed away shortly afterwards.
A man who had been sleeping at the back of the house, managed to escape and raised the alarm.
Speaking to Highland Radio yesterday, Mayor of Letterkenny, Councillor Pascal Blake, said the community is in shock but will rally around the family:
