Northwest may escape the worst of the stormy weather due Sunday/Monday

Weather AlertThe Northwest is expected to avoid the worst of the stormy weather due later Sunday.
Met Eireann has upgraded its weather warning from yellow to orange in a number of counties predicting gusts of up to 90km/h this afternoon.
The weather warning covers counties of Wexford, Galway, Mayo, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Waterford.
For the Northwest,  becoming mainly dry with sunny spells developing but some heavy showers will spread into the area later this afternoon and evening.
Very windy with strong and gusty southerly winds. Mild with highs of 8 to 10 degrees.
More very windy weather will develop on Sunday night with showery outbreaks of rain and strong to gale force southerly winds, with some severe gusts. Lows of 4 or 5 degrees.
Monday will be another very windy day with strong to gale force and gusty south to southwest winds. There will be some bright dry periods but with heavy showers also.
Highs of 8 or 9 degrees.
High seas could trigger some coastal flooding according to Met Éireann who also say that South to southeast gales or strong gales will develop on all Irish coastal waters and on the Irish Sea today.
The thundery downpours may lead to local spot flooding inland also.
