Calls for strorm repairs on Arranmore and at Burtonport to be prioritised

Cllr David Alcorn.Donegal County Council is being urged to ensure lighting is returned to Burtonport and damage repaired on Arranmore Island caused by recent storms.
Local Councillor David Alcorn says the lack of public lightening close to the dock in Burtonport presents a serious hazard to the public.
He says he has no indication as to when the problems will be fixed but says he has been assured that it is a priority for the council:


Meanwhile the Junior Finance Minister says funds will be made available to help those worst hit by ongoing storms.
Strong winds and high tides have combined to cause flooding along Atlantic coasts, with parts of Cork, Kerry, Clare ,Donegal and Galway among those worst affected.
Met Éireann is warning that stormy conditions will continue for the rest of the day.
Minister Brian Hayes says money is available through a number of different schemes to help but an assessment of what’s needed can’t be made until the storms abate:
