Minister calls on all parties in Limerick City of Culture to work together to make project a success

LThe Chairman of Limerick City of Culture says he never asked for the appointment of Patricia Ryan as CEO.
Ms. Ryan stood down yesterday amid controversy over why she was brought in to lead the project.
In total four people have stood down in Limerick’s first week as Ireland’s City of Culture for 2014.
Discussions are expected to take place today on replacing the vacant positions, while it is understood those who have resigned will not be returning to their positions.
But Pat Cox says there was nothing underhanded in Patricia Ryan’s appointment.
“All I can do is accept that that perception is there and I have never – because they are facts – denied the fact that, for a long period, Patricia Ryan worked with me” he said.
“All I can do on the counter part of that is to say I never asked – from the time I was asked to undertake this job – for anyone to be appointed, I never asked for Patricia Ryan to be appointed, I never asked for anything for myself”.
“People will have their view, and I simply have to respect what views they have” he added.
