A Union representing Ambulance staff says recent tragic cases in Donegal highlight the fact that there is neither adaquate staffing or vehicles to cover Donegal.
The National Ambulance Service Representatice Association was responding the claims that it took 50 minutes for an Ambulance to arrive at the scene of an accident in Carndonagh which took the life of Maura Porter.
It has emerged that the Ambulance was the 3rd emergency response vehicle to reach the scene, behind a Rapid Response Vehicle and an Intermediete Care Vehicle.
Highland Radio can also reveal that the first respondent sent to a house fire in Letterkenny, which claimed the lives of two sisters, was a Intermediete Care Vehicle – it was stood down because its staff were traumatised by the scene.
Michael Dixon, Chairperson of the NASRA says these cases underline the serious problems in Donegal:
