PSNI believe they know who killed Constable Ronan Kerr in Omagh

ronan kerrPolice in Tyrone say they believe they know the identities of the men behind the murder of Constable Ronan Kerr in Omagh almost three years ago.
The 25 year old died in a booby-trap car bomb outside his home in Omagh on April 2nd, 2011.
A senior detective involved in the investigation told the BBC this week that “significant progress” has been made in the case against the bomb-maker.
He said the police have also established links between those responsible and 16 other incidents, including the attempted murders of two other police officers.
Detectives believe the incidents were carried out by a group of about 20 to 25 members of the dissident republican group referred to as the new IRA. The group includes people from Omagh, Coalisland and Toomebridge in the North, and also in counties Monaghan and Louth in the Republic. Their actions are being directed from Belfast.
Three days after the killing, police raided industrial units near Coalisland and found the largest haul of weapons and explosives in Northern Ireland for many years.
Police say that search saved lives, as there was evidence that further attacks were being planned.
