Ireland may face under-representation in EU workforce in coming years

Europe needs some fresh faces from Ireland.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny earlier laughed off suggestions that he is on the way to Europe, but the message is that a lot of people who went to work there on lower levels in the 1970s are facing retirement in the coming years.
The Commission is keen to have a proper geographical balance in his workforce, to make sure every member state is represented.
Anyone interested is being advised to contact the European Commission representation in Dublin.
Secretary-General Catherine Day says a gap has been identified in the pool of talent from Ireland.
“We are worried, Ireland has been over-represented at senior level, in the next few years it could go to being under-represented unless we take some action” she said.
“That’s why we’re drawing attention to it now, and why we want to work with the government to make sure that that problem doesn’t occur” she added.
