David Alcorn confirms he will not seek re-election to Donegal County Council

Veteran Donegal County Councillor David Alcorn has confirmed he will not be seeking re-election to the council in May’s local elections.
He confirmed the news at a meeting of the local Fianna Fail Cumann last night.
It is understood that Noreen McGarvey of Meenmore is the favourite to be selected to run in Councillor Alcorn’s place.
It was a frustrating year for Councillor Alcorn – anonymous allegations of expenses irregulatrities led to a SIPO investigation which cleared Mr Alcorn of any wrongdoing.
Speaking to Highland Radio News Councillor Alcorn says stepping back from the council was one of the most difficult decisions he’s had to make:
