It was confirmed last night by Donegal selector Damien Diver that Mark Mc Hugh – an All Star in Donegal’s All Ireland winning year of 2012 has left the senior team panel.
The Kilcar man who came on as a 2nd half substitute in Sunday’s league final defeat to Monaghan did not attend training on Tuesday night and yesterday rumours were rife that he had decided to move on.
Damien told the Donegal News last night “Mark hasn’t been enjoying his football. He has been troubled by a hamstring injury and his form has been indifferent. He just wasn’t enjoying it and wanted to take time out.
McHugh is one of four players who have stepped away for the senior side with Glenswilly Gary Mc Fadden, Noamh Colmcille’s Thomas Mc Kinley and St Michael’s Antoin Mc Fadden also departing.
With the championship opener at the end of the month against Derry the news of four players leaving the panel comes as a blow to Donegal.
