Health Minister Dr James Reilly has told the Dail that the former Chair of the West North West Hospital Group had no involvement in the decision to hire a company in which he had a 50% shareholding to carry out a review of maternity services.
Answering questions from Sinn Fein’s Caomhin O’Caoilain, Minister Reilly said Noel Daly had told the board that he was a founder and former employee of DNF Health Partnership, but had not disclosed that he still had shares.
MInister Reilly also confirmed there was a breach of procurement rules in the tender process which saw the company get the contract to carry out the review, which has since been suspended.
During the exchanges, Deputy O’Caolain asked about the nature of the breach, and claimed the minister and the system had failed in this instance……………
