A Letterkenny based councillor is urging people offered council houses to accept them after a recent meeting of the Letterkenny Municipal District was told that dozens of council houses are being turned down.
In many cases, the reason given was concern about the area the house is in, with prospective tenants concerned about possible anti-social behaviour, particularly in cases where young children
are involved.
However, Cllr Gerry Mc Monagle, a former chair of the Letterkenny Community Development Project says in most cases, there is a strong community spirit in council estates. Speaking on today’s Shaun Doherty Show, he urged people offered a house to think seriously before turning it down………..
